Thsi work's title is taken from an absurdist novel by Paul Auster, which was later made into a film starring Mandy Patinkin and James Spader. The story deals with the nature of random chance. In my mixed media version I deal with some of the same issues. A cabinet, by nature, invites an audience to open it and reveal what was previously unknown. A cabinet within a cabinet inspires further intrigue and, again, presents the choice or chance to see something new, be it sensual, mysterious, beautiful or frightening.
